What is the Trefoil Guild?

A non-uniformed branch of Girlguiding and it aims to keep alive the spirit of the Promise and Law and offers practical help to Guiding.

Renfrewshire County has five Guilds: Cardonald, Renfrew, Bishopton, Vanduara & Kilbarchan and we have around 80 members.

The Trefoil Guild enables men and women to establish and, more often, maintain their links with Guiding.

Members do not wear a uniform.

The Trefoil Guild offers members opportunities to meet with friends, develop interests, tackle new challenges and enjoy holidays together.

Membership also involves being active in a wider community, as an individual or as a Guild, through voluntary work or other commitment.

Our Commitment

  • To keep alive among members the spirit of the Guide/Scout Promise and Law.
  • To carry that spirit into the communities in which members live and work.
  • To give practical, financial and moral support to Guiding and Scouting.
  • Our Aim is to continue friendship, provide on-going help to Girlguiding generally, and have fun!
  • We support many charitable causes both at home and abroad.

Who can become a member?

In Trefoil Guild, women and men aged 18+ make new friends, travel, explore, serve their communities and help Guiding (and Scouting) thrive across the UK!

Whether you’re involved in guiding or not, Trefoil Guild is a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people to share your next adventure - whatever that might be!

Trefoil Guild is a branch of Girlguiding and its members agree to support the guiding ethos - including the pledge to help other people. Many members pass on their skills and knowledge to local guiding units, from helping Brownies work towards a badge to preparing older girls for a camping adventure. Many members are unit leaders or helpers in Girlguiding units.

But it’s not all about the girls - there are plenty of opportunities for members to try something new, take on a new personal challenge and escape the daily routine. The best thing is that what you do is up to you!

Across the UK, there are over 1,100 Trefoil Guilds with over 20,000 members - some meet every week, others less frequently, perhaps in the evening or in the afternoon.
