Rainbow units have been busy working through the Roundabout Badges and making Promises and taking part in lots of crafts, games and songs and some themed nights.

Brownies have completed a variety of clauses in the Interest Badges within their units throughout the year and successfully completed their Communicators, Cooks, Crime Prevention, Artist and World Guiding to name but a few.

South Newton was used by Greenock Division to hold a three-day camp for Guides. The weather for once played along and the girls and leaders managed to complete a full package of events in the sun. For many of the girls this was their first time sleeping away at a guide camp where they learned how to pitch the tent they were to be sleeping in. The girls all enjoyed their time at South Newton.

2nd Gourock Young Leader Eve Conner travelled to Mexico over the summer as part of a service project with a group of girls from all over Scotland.  During her time in Mexico, Eve worked in a kindergarten with children from deprived areas. Having taken out play equipment, Eve was one of the group leaders organising games with balls and Frisbees which brought great delight to the youngsters. Eve also worked at a Summer Camp for 4 to 15 year olds where, as well as teaching English, she organised games of football and even introduced them to Scottish dancing! During her second week in Mexico, Eve had the opportunity to do some sightseeing. The whole experience was exciting and thought provoking and made Eve think about how happy the children were even though they had very little.

Other trips were taking place nearer to home. Brownies had trips to the dry ski slope, Funworld and Larkfield District travelled to Heads of Ayr, where they fed the animals, bounced on huge pillows and played in the castle.  2nd Gourock Guides travelled to PGL in Dalguise House for an action packed adventure weekend where they climbed and completed challenges.  4th Gourock and 1st Gourock Guides went on a joint trip to PGL in Shrewsbury and had a fun filled action-packed holiday.
