4th Gourock Guide stands for Scottish Youth Parliament

Ella Miller, a 4th Gourock Guide, is standing for election as a Girlguiding Scotland nominee for the Scottish Youth Parliament.

The Scottish Youth Parliament represents Scotland’s young people.  Their vision for Scotland is of a nation that actively listens to and values the meaningful participation of its children and young people.  Their goal is to make this vision a reality, in order to ensure Scotland is the best place in the world to grow up.

The Scottish Youth Parliament elections will take place between the 15th and 29th of March 2019.

Asked why she wants to be an MSYP Ella said: “I would love to be an MSYP as I am a caring and passionate individual who never gives up on the issues I care about. I would strive to be the best I can be for every single one of my constituents and ensure their voices are heard on a national level.

“I don’t hold back and I make sure figureheads listen as it is important us young people are respected and heard. It is so important for me that everyone no matter what background is represented and I would do everything in my power to guarantee that it will happen.

“I would be the best MSYP for Girlguiding Scotland as I have plenty of experience of the political world from appearing on First Ministers Questions to having a meeting with the First Minister in her office, I am also a Speak Out champion for the organisation.

‘My heart truly is with Girlguiding and making sure all young women are equal and feel represented. I would never slack on the job and I am most certainly not a quitter. If you want your voice to be heard, I’m the girl for you.”
