Big hearted Brownie leader hits the headlines

1st Elderslie Brownie leader Dawn’s hit the headlines in the Paisley Gazette with her crafts for all the children in Howwood!

She’s been leaving activities outside her home, with the help of her mum Laura, for the kids to collect while taking their daily exercise.

They’ve included kite making, colouring in books, pet rocks and even treats on Easter Sunday.

She’s been leaving around 20 crafts outside every day and they’ve all been taken – she has even had to rush to make more some days because they are so popular!

Her kind actions were part of an article in the paper about local heroes who are making people smile during lockdown.

Dawn said: “I’m just trying to spread a little happiness and cheer to the children and families in village as they are out for their daily walk.

“I started with putting up a poster wishing everyone a Happy Thursday, then I put out polly pockets with colouring in sheets to keep the children busy then we did count the different Winnie the Poohs in the windows, a springtime frieze along the fence, easter cards, rock pets, scavenger hunts, fir cone friends… just doing what I can to keep them busy.

“Parents are staying it has helped to motive their children to get up and ready to see what will be out today. Each day is different.”

We think you are brilliant, Dawn!
