South Newton was used by Greenock Division to hold a three-day camp.

The weather for once played along and the girls and leaders managed to complete a full package of events in the sun. For many of the girls, this was their first time sleeping away at a Guide camp where they learned how to pitch the tent they were to be sleeping in.

The girls all enjoyed their time. They learned about geo-caching, pioneering with a rope bridge, science with rockets, kites and exploding canisters, backwoods skills, making gadgets from sticks, cooking dampers or ‘bananas with mallows’, craftwork using paracord plus fun things like bubbles. There was also campfire and s’mores each evening. Thanks to all the leaders and volunteers who helped make this a memorable weekend for all in attendance.
