The wind was blowing a gale and the rain was on and off but six members of Dr Laird’s Cadets arrived at South Newton on Thinking Day to celebrate her life, plant a tree in her honour and to share some lovely memories. The ladies also took part in renewing their Promise which I was delighted to join them in. I had forgotten how moving it could be and have many fond memories of making my own Promise at South Newton, in my Brownie or Guide Unit or with a 1,000 or so other members at Lapwing Lodge celebrating our 100th Birthday. I’m sure the girls in your Units will also remember making their Promise whether it was as an individual or renewing it on Thinking Day with their Units.
