Gourock Guide Leader Honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List!

Christine McLachlan, former County Commissioner (2014-2019) has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Honours List for her services to young people. Christine has been a dedicated member of Girlguiding for 50 years and is currently the Unit Leader of the 2nd Gourock Guides and runs the Cloch Trefoil.

Christine said, “It is hard to put into words how I feel to receive the medal, I am honoured, privileged and surprised. But I am a representative of the Girl Guides, this is recognition for all the volunteers out there who are part of the movement and give up their own time. I am so proud to be part of the Girl Guides. To get this award this week on the platinum jubilee is so very special!”.

The County would like to both congratulate and thank Christine for all she has done and continues to do for girls and young women in Renfrewshire – you are a true inspiration!
