The 23rd Greenock Brownies celebrated their 60th Birthday on the 10th March 2021!
The Brownies celebrated their Big Birthday with a virtual party on Zoom, a significant change from when the Brownies held their first meeting in St Ninians Church Hall, Larkfield, on the 10th March 1961.
The Brownies made origami party hats, had a sing-along Happy Birthday before a game of Bingo … a Brownie favourite!
The leaders have challenged the Brownies to design a Special 60th Birthday Badge to commemorate this milestone, with the winning design being made into a cloth badge for the girls to keep.
Wilma Carroll attended the unit as a Brownie in 1977 and has been guider in charge for over 30 years along with Angela Darroch who notches up 26 years. Stephanie O’Neill is also part of the unit’s strong leadership team. The Brownies usually meet in the Larkfield area on a Tuesday night and hope to return once again when they are allowed to do so.
