World Thinking Day is an annual celebration of Girl Guides and Scouts around the world. It has been celebrated since 1926 and is a day of international friendship. We think of issues that affect girls, and of our Guiding friends around the world.
Girlguiding Renfrewshire decided to “Light Up Renfrewshire” for Thinking Day. This included the Johnstone Band Stand in Central Division, the Beacon Arts Centre and Custom House in Greenock Division, and the Bascule “Swing” Bridge in Renfrew Division. Other buildings also projected the Trefoil or World Thinking Day badge.
Members across the county were tasked with placing a candle in their window between 7.10pm (1910) and 8.21pm (2021) to mark World Thinking Day and 111 years of Girlguiding.
Girlguiding Scotland also hosted a Thinking Day event. Francesca from 1st East Rainbows completed her Rainbow Promise made her promise with the Chief Commissioner Moira McKenna at the event, who then sent her a card and special badge. Ellie from 8th Paisley Brownies was doing one of the upcycling tasks from the Thinking Day event.
Units also held their own celebrations, sending out packs, hosting parties, and more!
